Hall of Fame ByLaws

I. Organization
A. The formation of the Michigan Trapshooting Hall of Fame is at the direction and jurisdiction of the Michigan Trapshooting Association Board of Directors, hereafter referred to as the MTA Board. The MTA Board may amend these by-laws at any time.
B. The Board of the Hall of Fame shall consist of three (3) members, hereafter referred to as the HoF Board. HoF Board members serve three (3) year terms, with a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms. Members shall be nominated by the Michigan Trapshooting Association President, and approved by the MTA Board.
C. One HoF Board member deemed Chairman shall be selected by the HoF Board annually. The HoF Board shall conduct the business of the Hall of Fame, and shall have jurisdiction in all matters pertaining to the Hall of Fame.
II. Qualifications of Inductees into the Hall of Fame
A. The HoF Board may select a candidate for induction for one or both of the following reasons:
1. The ability of the candidate in the sport of trapshooting.
2. The contribution of the candidate to the sport of trapshooting.
B. No candidate shall be inducted into the Hall of Fame, regardless of any other qualifications, who has been suspended by the Amateur Trapshooting Association within the previous five (5) years, or has exhibited significant unsportsmanlike conduct.
C. The candidate must be, or have been, a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association of America. He or she must have been a competitor in or made their contribution in endeavors sanctioned by the Michigan Trapshooting Association.
D. The candidate must be a Michigan native or have spent the majority of his or her shooting career in Michigan. The HoF Board may recommend honorary induction to the Hall of Fame of a candidate who meets all other qualifications except residence.
III. Selection of Inductees For The Hall of Fame
A. Any Michigan resident who is a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association may submit the name of a candidate for consideration by the HoF Board. The submission must be sent to the Chairman of the HoF Board in writing with a description of the qualifications of the candidate.
B. The HoF Board shall review all submissions and select the candidate(s) after researching the candidate’s trapshooting history and contribution to the sport, subject to:
1. No more than two candidates may be selected per year.
2. It is not mandatory to select a candidate, or candidates, annually.
The decision to recommend a candidate for induction belongs solely to the HoF Board.
C. The HoF Board shall provide a written report to the MTA Board detailing the candidate’s qualifications, and stating the specific reasons for the candidate’s recommended induction into the Hall of Fame. The report must be signed by at least two HoF Board Members. The report shall be provided to the MTA Board by September 1, or another date set by the MTA Board, for a candidate to be inducted at the following year’s Michigan State Shoot. The MTA Board may return the report to the HoF Board for additional information.
D. The final decision on induction belongs solely to the MTA Board.
